Thank you to a great season!
Dear Dolphin Families,
I want to thank you for a successful swim season! First, your gift was more than I could have imagined and much appreciated. Thank you for thinking of me and giving such a generous gift.
The swim team days are long, but the season is short, and the time goes by too quickly. In the thick of it I can feel overwhelmed, but too soon it is over, and I realize I will not see my “summer friends” until next season, which makes me sad and feeling even a little bit lonely! We are thrust together for a quick eight weeks and then it’s another year before I see many of you again. I hope we do run into each other during the remainder of the summer and into the new school year, but know that you are all appreciated as we bring an end to this season and start planning for a new one next year.
Our Dolphins were able to celebrate four wins out of five meets this season, with four out of five rain delays and cancellations! For those of you that are new, no, this is NOT typical! I have been around swim a great number of years, and I can’t remember a time this has ever happened! Thank you for being patient and supportive in the waits and the decisions! They are not easy!
We were also able to navigate a successful first season of Guppies! We helped twelve new swimmers become more comfortable in the water and learn to swim an entire length of the pool. This ended with a mini-meet and some medals for some happy future Dolphins! Thank you for being a part of our pilot program!
In addition to all the firsts this season, we were also able to donate over $2600 to the It’s A Journey non-profit for helping those locally that are working through the logistics of care through breast cancer treatments. The money we donated will walk two women through an entire treatment plan and anything that goes along with it. Some of us are planning to do the walk the first week in October. I will pass on the information once I receive it.
As you look ahead to the next season, I hope you will consider being a part of our Dolphin family again. We will most likely look at registering around the same time next year: March 27th. I will probably update our website one more time before the end of summer with some pictures, and then look for more updates next February! We usually get all our details for the CSSL near the end of February, and we can solidify dates at that point. Most likely we will have our meets on Mondays and have three home meets.
If you have any questions, let me know. Also, if you missed getting your end of season medal and ribbons, we can possibly set up a time to meet at the pool to get you those.
Have a fantastic rest of your summer!
Sincerely,
Kori and your Dolphin Crew
